Continuity Clinic Dr. McCaulley examining a patient
Curriculum Overview

Continuity clinic is the setting where residents develop the skills of longitudinal care for a personal panel of patients and families. The residency offers continuity experience in a variety of settings, including hospital and community-based clinics, as well as private practices. Interns are placed in a continuity clinic based on their career goals and special interests, such as largely African-American urban neighborhood clinics, academic clinics, or clinics with a large Spanish-speaking population.

Residents attend their clinic one half-day per week, typically precepted by the same faculty member throughout their training experience with whom residents develop beneficial mentoring relationships. Skills in efficient primary care management are emphasized with attention to health systems issues.
