Wishard Memorial HospitalSince 1855, Wishard Health Services has been charged with and committed to providing health care to the residents of Marion County. The hospital is nationally recognized for its efficiency, excellent care outcomes and a state-of-the-art computerized order entry and patient database system (the Regenstrief Medical Record System). Wishard has established a Primary Care network consisting of its Primary Care Center and six Community Health Centers throughout Indianapolis where residents engage in primary care during ambulatory rotations and in continuity clinic settings. The inpatient medicine services are grouped as general medicine teams including ICU patients. The Center for Senior Care and Palliative Care teams provide specialized multidisciplinary consultations. Subspecialty care is provided by consultant teams. The inpatient pediatric services include a general pediatric unit, the Healthy Beginnings maternal-child unit and a Level 2 special care nursery. The active Emergency Department serves as a busy county hospital emergency room and one of only two Level One trauma centers in the state. The Pediatric Urgent Care Center provides 35,000 visits per year. The Wishard Hispanic Health Project was established to improve access to health care to the growing Hispanic community in Indianapolis. The Wishard Advantage Program is a landmark managed care program which insures the care of low income residents of Marion County.
