Academic Appointments and Service
I began teaching composition part-time, tutoring in the University Writing Center, and rating placement essays at IUPUI in 1991. Appointed to the position of full-time lecturer in 1996, I was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2002. Over the years, I have taught W001, W131, W140, W150, W231, and W331.
In addition to teaching writing, I coordinate W231, Professional Writing Skills. In my role as coordinator, I consult on staffing of W231 with Mary Sauer, orient new W231 faculty, monitor and update features of W231 (curriculum, textbooks, website, etc.),and handle student concerns about their experience in W231.
I am also the coordinator for Writing Program Instructional Technology. In that role, I support instructors as they seek to integrate technology into their teaching and serve as a liaison between the Department of English and Liberal Arts Technical Services.
I am involved in committee work at the program, department, school, and university level. For example, serve on the Writing Coordinating Committee in the Department of English, as well as the Writing and Literacy Track Committee. I served on the IUPUI Faculty Council Technology Committee for seven years, and as a member of the University's Oncourse Priorities Committee for five years, I have been deeply involved in the development of Oncourse.
