ANNOUNCEMENT TO REPRESENTATIVES OF ATHLETICS INTERESTS    

IUPUI is and will be held accountable for the acts of all individuals (and groups) associated with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. This includes those who have been identified as “representative of athletics interests”. You are a Representative of Athletics Interest if:

• You are or have ever been a member of an IUPUI sport booster club
• You have made donations to the booster club or to the Athletics Department
• You have been involved in the promotion of IUPUI athletics in any way
• You have assisted or have been requested (by the athletics department staff) to assist in the recruitment of prospects
• You have assisted in providing benefits to enrolled student-athletes or their families

If you are a Representative of Athletics Interest, you may not have any athletics recruiting contact (in-person contact, telephone call, correspondence, etc.) with a prospect or the prospect’s family. You may watch a prospect participate in her/his sport. Please contact the Compliance Coordinator if you have further questions.

REMEMBER THE SIX-HOUR RULE

• All current student-athletes must satisfactorily complete six countable hours during the fall semester in order to retain eligibility for competition that commences or follows January 10, 2004.

WHAT TO DO WHEN A STUDENT-ATHLETE IS DROPPED FROM ROSTER

1. Submit Drop From Roster form
2. If student-athlete is receiving an athletics grant-in-aid, submit either this Voluntary Withdrawal Form or this Cancellation of GIA Form

SOCCER NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT SIGNING PERIOD

February 4 – August 1

ATHLETICALLY RELATED ACTIVITY (ARA)

• All Sports Except Basketball and Swimming will NOT be permitted to conduct ARA during the period December 16, 2003 - January 9, 2004.
• Swimming will NOT be permitted to conduct ARA during the period December 21-27, 2003.
• NCAA Bylaw 17.1.5.3.6 Vacation Periods and Between Terms will apply as follows:

REQUIRED DAY OFF
NCAA Bylaw 17.1.5.4 states, "During the playing season, all countable <ARA> shall be prohibited during one calendar day per week, EXCEPT DURING PARTICIPATION IN ONE CONFERENCE AND POSTSEASON CHAMPIONSHIP AND NATIONAL INVITIATIONAL TOURNAMENTS, AND DURING PARTICIPATION IN NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS."
