Revised Procedures for Hardship Requests
- Head
Coach notifies the Compliance Coordinator of the request.
- The
Compliance Coordinator determines whether or not a waiver is possible under
NCAA guidelines.
- If
yes, the Compliance Coordinator contacts the Team Physician and Sports
Information Office for supporting documentation.
- The
completed Mid-Con form and documentation is forwarded to the Athletics
Director for signature.
- The
Athletics Director forwards to the conference office.
- The
Compliance Coordinator informs the Head Coach of the conference decision
when it is received.

Athletically Related Activity (ARA)
- NCAA Bylaw 17.1.5 – Time
Limits for Athletically Related Activities
- A
student-athlete’s participation in countable athletically related
activities is limited to a maximum of 4 hours per day and 20 hours per
week.
- Exception:
A practice round of golf may exceed the 4 hour per day limit
- During
the playing season, all countable athletically related activities shall
be prohibited during one calendar day per week, except during
participation in one conference and postseason championship and any
postseason licensed bowl games or National Invitation Tournaments, and
during participation in NCAA championships.
- A
travel day related to athletics participation may be considered as a
day off, provided no countable athletically related activities occur
during that day.
- It
is permissible to utilize a vacation day to satisfy the day-off-per-week
requirement.
- Outside
of the playing season during the academic year, all countable
athletically related activities are prohibited during two calendar days
per week.
- A
student-athlete may not participate in any countable athletically
related activities outside the playing season during any institutional
vacation period.
Competition
- NCAA Bylaw 14.2.3.1 –
Minimum Amount of Competition
- Any
competition [excluding preseason exhibition contests or practice
scrimmages with outside competition (including approved two-year
college scrimmages) during the student-athlete’s initial year of
enrollment at the certifying institution], regardless of time, during a
season in an intercollegiate sport shall be counted as a season of
competition in that sport.

Interests
- Definition
of a Rep (NCAA Bylaw 13.02.13):
- A
“representative of the institution’s athletics interests” is an
individual who is known (or should have been known) by a member of the
institution’s executive or athletics administration to:
- Have
participated in or to be a member of an agency or organization
promoting the institution’s intercollegiate athletics program;
- b.
Have made financial contributions to the athletics department or to an
athletics booster organization of that institution;
- c.
Be assisting or to have been requested (by the athletics department
staff) to assist in the recruitment of prospects;
- d.
Be assisting or to have assisted in providing benefits to enrolled
student-athletes or their families; or
- e.
Have been involved otherwise in promoting the institution's athletics
program.
