2019 Indianapolis Chinese Festival

2019 Indianapolis Chinese Festival Volunteer Opportunity

The Chinese Festival in Indianapolis is taking place on Saturday September 28th from 11:00am-5:00pm at IUPUI Wood Plaza (W. NY & Blake St).  We are looking for volunteers to help setup, teardown and cleanup before, during and after the festival.  Each volunteer will receive a t-shirt, water and a lunch coupon.  We will be having a mandatory meeting on Friday September 27th at noon at the Confucius Institute (Cavanaugh Hall Suite 129) to go over how to setup the tents and logistics.  Please share this with anyone you think would be interested.

Responsibilities include on Saturday September 29th:

8:00am: Meet at Wood Plaza.  Volunteers will be split up in groups of 6.  Each group will first set up the 10×20 canopy tents.  Once completed, set up 10×10 canopy tents.  After all tents have been setup you will be moving tables and chairs to booth locations and trash totes to certain areas.

During Festival (11am-5pm): Cleaning up trash during the festival and assisting public (this is mainly a good time to rest).

5:00pm: Tearing down canopy tents and placing them into truck.  Once completed, move tables and chairs back to original location.  Finally moving trash tanks back to sidewalk. (We will be done before 7pm)

We asked that you be available for both setup and teardown

Additionally, we are looking for individuals to help move our tents out of our storage that is located in the Lockefield Village Building on Friday September 27th  at 4pm and return tents on Saturday September 28th after the festival tear down.  Individuals that help with our tent storage will be compensated $10.50 an hour (please make sure you are able to receive compensation – if not, volunteers are always welcome). Please contact if you are interested in this additional help.

2019 Indy International Festival

We are looking for Volunteers to assist at our Confucius Institute booth at the International Festival which normally takes place in November for 3 days at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Please contact if you are interested in this.
