2014 CHINESE LANGUAGE & CULTURE SUMMER CAMP AT IUPUI
For language learning, the younger the better. To better prepare our children to learn Chinese language, the Confucius Institute in Indianapolis offers a Chinese Language and Culture summer day-camp for K-8 students. The camp is held on the IUPUI campus, and last for one to five weeks. Students will have a full curriculum of Chinese language, martial arts, Chinese crafts, calligraphy and more. Classes are taught by local Chinese Teachers and Teaching Assistants from IUPUI.
Who: Children in grades K-8 (must be at least 5yrs old to enroll).

Where: IUPUI campus, Engineering/Science & Technology Building 723 W. Michigan St. Indianapolis IN
When: Mon. – Fri. June 23 – July 25, 2014; 8:30 AM – 4:15 PM.
Pre & After School Care (extra charge) available 7:30 – 8:30 AM, and 4:15 – 6:00 PM
Costs: $150 per week or $125 per week if enrolled all five weeks
$25 per week for pre- and after-school care
$15 one time teaching materials and textbooks fee (waived if enrolled by May 1st)

Deadline: June 13th (postmarked – full payment must be received).
Payment: Please mail or drop off registration form and payment (cash or check only made payable to “IUPUI Confucius Institute”) to 425 University Blvd, CA 129, Indianapolis, IN 46202. Payment is due with registration and must be received in order for registration to be confirmed. Once received, we will send you a receipt.
Cost includes: Camp T-shirt, calligraphy brush & paper, Chinese language books, Chinese jianzi game
Field Trip: We will be participating in a Field Trip to see the Take Me There China Exhibit at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis on Friday, July 11th
Orientation: We will be holding an orientation session prior to the camp (Time and Date TBD)
What to Bring: Due to food allergies and your child’s individual preferences, we are asking that parents pack a morning snack and a lunch for their child each day of the camp. Please be sure to clearly mark your child’s name on his or her lunch box/bag. Campers also bring their own backpack, pencil and notebook.
Parking: Parents are responsible for any parking costs. Permits are available at http://parking.iupui.edu/Visitors/VisitorHome.aspx. Meters are also available.
Additional Information: The camp is held in the SL and LD buildings which are connected to one another. Lunch is in the Campus Center. Each week we have Camper of the week for each group. We generally have a performance on the last day of camp. There will be no camp on Friday July 4th. Groups might be combined for non-language classes.
