Chinese Language Teacher Workshop
July 17th, 2009, 2:28 pm
The Confucius Institute in Indianapolis will sponsor an extended Chinese language teachers’ workshop at the Sheraton Hotel downtown Indianapolis from September 17th to 19th, 2009. We would like to invite Chinese language teachers to attend this conference that will be an incredible opportunity for them to develop the skill set that they will certainly employ throughout their teaching career. In addition, this workshop will serve to develop a network/learning community among Indiana’s Chinese language educators. The Confucius Institute has consulted with representatives from the Indiana Department of Education, school administrators, and Chinese teachers from central Indiana to develop this workshop. As a result of these consultations, we have decided to focus the workshop on developing practical teaching skills that will be especially useful to teachers who are just beginning to teach in American schools.
The workshop will proceed according to the following format and content:
- First Session: Thursday, Sept. 17, afternoon, 1 pm - 4 pm
Topic: American Education Culture - Second Session: Friday, Sept 18, morning, 9 am - 12 pm
Topic: Developmental Psychology Theory; Second Language Acquisition Theory - Third Session: Friday, Sept 18, afternoon, 1 pm - 4 pm
Topic: Classroom Management - Fourth Session: Saturday, Sept 19, morning, 9 am - 12 pm
Topic: Methodology — pedagogy (lesson plans) - Fifth Session: Saturday, Sept 19, afternoon, 1 pm - 4 pm
