Jiangsu Silk & Bamboo Performing Group

The Jiangsu Silk & Bamboo Performance Group from Jiangsu China performed at Clowes Memorial Hall of Butler University in the evening  of Sept. 12 to kickoff the First Chinese Festival sponsored by Mayor Ballard of Indianapolis. The group is lead by the renowned Erhu player, composer Changyao Zhu.

The event was hosted by Zao Xu of Confucius Institute in Indianapolis.  Mayor Ballard, Deputy Consul General Yun Liang Xie from Chinese Consulate in Chicago, and President Bobby Fong of Butler University gave opening remarks.  The artists presented traditional Chinese instrumental and vocal music, folk dance, Peking opera, magic show and changing face masks puppet show.  More than 1,500 audience members enjoyed the performance.
