Vice Chancellor Sukhatme visit China

Vice Chancellor Uday Sukhatme attended the 2nd Confucius Institute World Conference in Beijing Dec. 10-13 with the Director of Confucius Institute in Indianapolis Zao Xu. During the meeting, VC Sukhatme attended the Exhibition of Confucius Institute Achievements and discussed the future development of Confucius Institute with other representatives from difference institutes around the world.
After the conference, VC Sukhatme visited SYSU in Guangzhou and met VPs Ningshen Xu and Guangmei Yan to discussed the possibility of student and faculty exchange programs between IUPUI and SYSU. VC Sukhatme also gave a seminar on Quantum Mechanics in the School of Physics and Engineering. He then visited the East campus of SYSU that is located in the new mega university town to the east of Guangzhou.

Vice Chancellor Sukhatme visit China

Patrick O’Meara, the Vice President of International Affairs of Indiana University visited SYSU on Dec. 3. In the morning, VP O’Meara met Vice presidents Ningsheng Xu and Guangmei Yan of SYSU and discussed the issues related to Confucius Institute and explored the future collaborations on faculty and student exchange. In the afternoon, VP O’Meara visited the Opthalmic Hospital and met President Jian Ge and some faculty from School of Optometry, HongKong Politechnic University to discussed the potential join program for Ph.D. program in Optometry. Zao C Xu, the Director of Confucius Institute in Indianapolis, and Shawn Reynolds, the University Director International Partnerships & Strategic Initiatives, participated the meetings.
