Pre-Laboratory Lectures
Pre-laboratory lecture is
to be used in conjunction with the laboratory manual and the C105 book. Prior to reading each lecture, you should
click on the hyper-link from each lecture to the Pre-Lab worksheet and print it
out. This should serve as your guide
through the material, streamlining/relating the theory and experimental
procedure.
The first section of the pre-lab covers the purpose of the experiment (yellow). Following the purpose, theory is introduced via the vocabulary and equations used within the experiment. The experimental section (green) describes the equipment and materials (as well as hazards in red) for each procedural step. This section also links to the calculations (blue) required from those procedural steps to reach the objectives of the experiment. A list of things you should know (orange) and understand prior to lab follows the experimental section. You should use this list to study for quizzes/exams. References (yellow) for that experiment are at the end of the lecture, and you should read and refer to the section in the C105 book for further information and more practice problems.
Prelab Lectures are to be viewed prior to your arrival for that week's scheduled lab. Notes from these lectures may prove useful in preparation for writing the prelab section of your lab notebook and studying for the weekly quiz. Prelab Lectures can be found here:
You may need a Shockwave or Real One player to view materials on this site. Files may also be available in the attachment folder of the prelab lectures. It may be necessary to utilize the Safari browser in order to view the lecture materials.
