Black Student Initiative

in 2006 three students led a protest of over 80 black students which included members of National Pan Hellenic Council, Student African American Brotherhood/Sisterhood and Black Student Union. This protest sparked a debate on the University’s commitment to diversity and raised awareness to the State of Black Students at IUPUI by delivering a document entitled “Through Our Eyes“
In the months that followed November 2nd, 2006 the IUPUI campus and surrounding Indianapolis community became divided while dicerning as to the validity of the students claims through the document until a town-hall forum was held that drew the attendance of the entire community as well as IUPUI Administrators. Their commitment to resolving the issue further pushed the agenda and resulted in many achievements and initiatives in hopes of solving the original complaints.

::What’s Going On at IUPUI???::
...below we have listed links for any and everyone to become an informed citizen of IUPUI in regards to the discriminatory distribution of Student Funds. It is important that throughout the struggle for equality
that we remain unified and present our position as students who actively seek to take their educational pursuits in their own hands rather than place their fate in the hands of a university that doesn’t advocate students to the university but the university to the students.
Be encouraged.
