Course Objectives
The following course objectives subscribe to IUPUI’s
Principles of Undergraduate Learning (PUL). In this course, we will
be focusing on the following four principles:
- PUL #1:
Core Communication and Quantitative Skills
- PUL #2:
Critical Thinking
- PUL #5:
Understanding Society and Culture
- PUL #6:
Values and Ethics
In light of these PULs, you will be evaluated through your course requirements,
which consist of exams, cultural activities, and a portfolio project.
At the end of the semester, you should be able to:
- critically analyze
two sides of an anthropological debate in small group discussions
- express
your ideas and arguments effectively in a variety of written formats
- synthesize
new ideas from the texts and your peers
- communicate
effectively one-on-one and in small groups
- compare
and contrast the local and global range of human diversity
- produce
a final portfolio of various writings which demonstrates
the learning process
