What a Summer!

What a summer! I have experienced more this summer than I have in the past 7 years of my Army track life. Aside from hanging out with friends, visiting family, and planning dates with my girlfriend, I got to stay connected with my skill in video production. I can’t say it has all been laid back--editing and shooting videos for JAGtv and reproducing them for the web can be challenging at times but it is all fun. The good thing is I don’t have the pressure of graduate school on top of these other projects, at least not yet.

On another note, my video project of my entire experience to Costa Rica is up and running on YouTube now! Editing the video proved to have more "ah ha" moments than I expected. When I was traveling to Costa Rica, I had a schedule of what I wanted to shoot and an idea of the story I wanted to portray. As I edited over the summer, I kept going over and over in my mind that I could have got this and I could have got that. It was almost like I could have stayed longer, regrouped my thoughts and my overall goal and go after it again.

Overall it didn’t prevent me from completing my project but it could have given me another story and other angles to go into. I am still very satisfied at the finished product and still overwhelmed at my entire experience. During the editing, I reflected a lot on my host family and the people I met during my study. I am glad to have finished it before the semester starts and able to submit it to the Study Aboard office for the video contest. I hope to be able to help other IU related campuses become aware of this program offered to all IU students.

As for now its time to get ready for the semester and for another exciting year as now an Alumni of Indiana University and a future graduate master student. Last note please follow Meghan as she continues here study in Costa Rica, she will have even a greater experience than I did.
