Cheerleaders : IUPUI Fall 2011 Cheerleading Tryouts

Tryouts to become a Jaguar Cheerleader will be held on Sunday, September 18th in the Main Gym at the Natatorium, 901 West New York St., Indianapolis.

Those interested in trying out for the 2011-2012 Spirit Squad should review the following information. Each candidate must have a completed Application Packet to try out. New this year, each candidate must have a complete Sports Physical.

Dates

Sunday, September 18, 2011: 4:00 pm-8:00 pm.

Application Packet

To be eligible to try out you must complete and bring the following documents with you:

1. Application [PDF]
2. Fall of 2011 Class schedule (with name printed on it) OR Letter of Acceptance
3. TWO copies of insurance card.
4. Rules and Uniform Agreement [PDF]
5. Completed Sports Physical: *NEW THIS YEAR!
   New applicants must provide proof of sports physical examination. For example, complete IHSAA Sports Physical Form or comparable form completed by doctor or medical clinic (usually about $25.00).
   Returning members have a valid physical with IUPUI Sports Medicine Staff until May 1, 2011.
6. Optional - Letters of recommendation

We do NOT have access to a copier to copy insurance cards. You must bring copies with you. Application must be completed in full or you WILL NOT be eligible to try out.

Clothing for Tryouts

• Female Students: black shorts, black tank top, white socks, athletic shoes, ponytail or sides up with white ribbon, game ready make-up, no jewelry
• Male Students: black shorts, white or IUPUI t-shirt, white socks, athletic shoes, no jewelry

• Tumbling
• Stunts

Squad makeup will be determined at the conclusion of tryouts and the coach reserves the right to add additional squad members as needed. Positions within the squads may change as the season progresses, and/or cheerleading skills are further evaluated.

Responsibilities

Cheerleaders must attend all home Men and Women's basketball games, as well as other sporting, campus and community events.

Currently, practices are held on Tuesday 7:00-10:00 pm and Sunday 4:00-7:00 pm in the Auxiliary Gym at the IU Natatorium. This is subject to change.
