In 1995, the IUPUI landscape changed dramatically with the dedication of Wood Memorial Plaza, the pyramid-shaped water fountain that has become a photographic signature for the university and a peaceful, beautiful gathering place for students, staff and faculty to study, relax and enjoy their free time. Since its inception, Wood Plaza—named for retired Eli Lilly chief executive officer Richard Wood and his wife Billie Lou—has become a centerpiece of campus life.
