Willis D. Gatch Clinical Building

The Willis D. Gatch Clinical Building, named for the former dean of the School of Medicine (1932-46), has served as a training facility for thousands of future physicians since it opened in 1938. It also has served research and administrative functions during its history. Gatch didn't limit his contributions to the academic world; he also invented (in 1909) the Gatch adjustable hospital bed, equipped with a crank that could raiser or lower a patient's head and feet.
