IUPUI is Indiana's premier urban research university. The campus enrolls more than 30,000 students in 21 schools and academic units.
The Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Survivors Park, dedicated to the vital message "Don't equate death and cancer," uses artistic expression to give tribute to the living.
The 1.5-acre IUPUI park is located on a triangle-shaped site where Indiana Avenue intersects with 10th Street and University Boulevard. The park is a life-affirming green space at a gateway to both the IU Medical Center/IUPUI campus and downtown Indianapolis. The site is dotted with life-size sculptures of men, women and children, all passing through a series of portals that represent the stages of treatment and success.
The Bloch family park is one of several across the nation that lifts the spirits of families touched by cancer. Other cities featuring Bloch parks include Bakersfield (Calif.), Baltimore, Chicago, Cleveland, Columbus (Ohio), Dallas, Houston, Jacksonville, Kansas City, New Orleans, Omaha (Neb.), Phoenix, Rancho Mirage (Calif.) and Santa Rosa (Fla.).
