Welcome to the new IUPUI.edu
Website redesigns are done with a purpose (or several!). Goals for the 2006 redesign include increased usability and accessibility, better communication of the many ways IUPUI impacts its community, fields of study, etc., a more sophisticated look that better reflects the campus environment, and the addition of new features, such as podcasts, more video, and more information about the campus.
Telling the IUPUI Story
IUPUI is a large and busy campus, and numerous amazing things happen every day. The IUPUI story is one of partnerships, commitments to excellence, academics with an urban flair, and one of considerable impact on the community — whether that community be central Indiana or global.
The new IUPUI.edu tells the campus story better than ever. On the campus home page, you'll find three main ways the story is told:
IUPUI Impact
Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and others tell the IUPUI story in their own words through video interviews. You'll find "impact boxes" on several pages of the site, but most prominently on the home page. Several new videos will be added each month, so check back often.Campus News
The campus is a fast moving place, and there is always something newsworthy taking place. The campus news block on the home page lists the most recent press releases. Those announcements include many topics, such as new partnerships, awards and recognition, new academic programs, and major grants and donations.Amazing Students and Outstanding Faculty and Staff
On a campus with nearly 30,000 students and thousands of faculty and staff, it is impossible to recognize everyone who is "outstanding," but we try! These profiles help illustrate that individuals &mdash and their ideas and commitment — are the foundation of the IUPUI story and the reason for the strong reputation of the campus. New profiles are added roughly biweekly.
Interested in a specific area? Check out the new pages dedicated to research, academics, and civic engagement. These pages include recent video interviews, news releases, and upcoming events pertaining to the page topic. Plus, the pages are a good gateway to related information on the website.
Useful
The campus website most certainly must connect you to the information you're here for, so the home page and other key pages include more links to the most frequently visited websites.
More ways to receive information
In addition to browsing the website, there are several other ways you can keep current with what's happening at IUPUI:
Our most exciting development is the addition of video podcasts, which allow you to download new stories to your computer or portable video device as soon as we publish them.
There are also several RSS Feeds — basically used to download the latest headlines directly to your computer. If you use the new Internet Explorer 7, you'll find RSS feeds are a convenient way to stay on top of campus news and upcoming events.
Easier to use in more ways
The site has been overhauled from the ground up to provide an enhanced experience to users of mobile devices, for people with disabilities, and users of the newest web browsers.
Pardon if we get too technical, but the site has been designed using modern CSS layout which maximizes compatibility, flexibility, and accessibility.
