Hoosier Scholars Helping Democracy
Central Indiana needs your help on Election Day. Nearly 500 new poll workers are needed in Marion County alone. Without your help, some polls may not open or open late, making it difficult, if not impossible, for some to vote.
Under the direction of Tim Koponen, Director of the Hoosier Scholars Helping Democracy project, a partnership between IUPUI, Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita, Marion County Clerk Beth White, Marion County Democrat Chairman Michael O’Connor and Republican County Chairman Tom John has been established to help people vote and count the votes on election day.
The Hoosier Scholars Helping Democracy project has also enlisted the assistance of colleagues at Anderson University, Butler University, Ivy Tech, Marian College, Martin University and University of Indianapolis to ensure that polls are open and operating smoothly in Central Indiana.
We invite students, faculty, friends and alumni of our partner institutions to join us in putting our beliefs in civic responsibility and democracy into action in Central Indiana. I hope you will join us.
