500 Festival Kids' Day
The Indianapolis 500 festival is a tremendous partnership for IUPUI. IUPUI has been involved for many years with this organization and continues to look for ways to expand.
500 festival & IUPUI
In 2005 IUPUI was involved in the following 500 festival events:
500 Festival Kids Day on Monument Circle where the IUPUI School of Science Chemistry department helped entertain over 30,000 people as they made "goofy glob" for the kids to take home with them.
500 Festival Community Day at the Speedway: IUPUI Mascot Jinx the Jaguar was a hit at this event spending the day at the track with the fans taking pictures and signing autographs for the kids.
500 Festival Mini Marathon Health Fair Expo: IUPUI was on hand to give out plenty of freebies including the always famous IUPUI Band Aid holders for those running the Mini Marathon the following weekend!
500 Festival Mini Marathon: Over 35,000 runners and guests came to the IUPUI campus for a gorgeous day for this 13.1 mile run. It is one of the most popular annual events in Indianapolis and IUPUI was there with over 30 volunteers manning the IUPUI water station. The IUPUI Cheerleaders and Jinx also came out to celebrate, cheering the runners on along the last mile through IUPUI's campus.
