IUPUI Business Student Joins Indy Star’s Fresh Thoughts Column

New Indy Star editorial writer, Kelley School of Business student, Peter Brasovan

INDIANAPOLIS - An Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) student-athlete has joined the ranks of the Indianapolis’ Star’s high school/college editorial writers.

Peter Brasovan, an IUPUI senior with a dual major in marketing and international business, is a newly appointed contributor to Fresh Thoughts, the Star Editorial Board’s college and high school blog. Opinions of the contributors are posted on the Star’s Web page and published on the Star’s op-ed page each Friday. The Fresh Thoughts bloggers tackle issues assigned by the editorial board or address topics of their own choosing.

Brasovan’s work as a blogger for the Kelley School of Business Web site was instrumental in his being selected as a Fresh Thoughts writer.

“One of the members of the Fresh Thoughts blog saw my writing and they asked me to join their team,” Brasovan said. “I feel this will allow me a chance to spread more of what IUPUI has to offer to the community.”

“I want people to read the blog and realize that I am not paying to advertise for IUPUI and I am not being forced to say what I say. I want them to understand that I am telling the story of urban collegiate life through the eyes of an actual student.”

Brasovan, who is scheduled to graduate in December 2007, is also an outstanding soccer player. He was IUPUI’s No. 1 goalkeeper in the 2005-06 season. He was named the Mid-Continent Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 12, 2005 after helping IUPUI to the IPFW Soccer Invitational title.

Brasovan is a Merrillville High School in Crown Point, Ind., graduate.
