Former Indianapolis Tennis Center Director named to Midwest Hall of Fame
The 2006 induction ceremony will be at the Sheraton Hotel Indianapolis North during the USTA/Midwest Section’s 113th Annual Meeting. Witsken competed on the Association of Tennis Professionals Tour reaching a career high of No. 4 in doubles and No. 43 in singles. During the time that he was at the Indianapolis Tennis Center, he also served on the Governor’s Council for Physical Fitness and Sport. Witsken volunteered for community fund-raisers and USTA related initiatives. The Todd Witsken Scholarship Fund was established in 1998 to provide scholarships for children of deceased individuals from the Midwest who were former professional players and members of the ATP or WTA. Playing for Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana, Witsken posted an undefeated high school tennis career mark. As a high school junior, Witsken led his team to win the state championship and also became Indiana’s first high school state singles champion in 1980 under the current format Witsken was selected as a member of the United States Junior Davis Cup team. At the University of Southern California, Witksen was named a three-time All American tennis player (1982, 1983, 1984) and was undefeated in the PAC 10 Conference play his junior year. He was a semi-finalist in both singles and doubles in the NCAA Championships. |
