Andrew Barth Appointed Faculty Fellow

INDIANAPOLIS – The office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculties is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew P. Barth, Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences, as a Faculty Fellow in the office of Academic Affairs.

Barth has a long career of teaching and research on various geological aspects of plate tectonics and related studies of the earth's crust. He is the author of numerous papers in prestigious geology journals and his research has been funded in recent years by the National Science Foundation and the Geological Society of America. Barth has served as the chair of his department from 1998 to 2003.

The Academic Affairs Faculty Fellow position is a half-time appointment for two years. Among the initial assignments will be to establish a lecture series to promote interdisciplinary research and helping create the IUPUI Academic Plan. He will join Professor Dominique Galli in these activities.
