Volunteers Needed for 2006 United Way Campaign EventsINDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI Office of External Affairs is gearing up for two 2006 United Way Campaign events, Dunk the Deans, Sept. 20, 2006; and Day of Caring, Sept. 22, 2006. Eternal Affairs will incorporate the IU School of Medicine’s “Dunk the Deans” concept as a campuswide event to kick off the 2006 IUPUI /United Way Campaign. Dunk the Deans will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 20 in the UC Courtyard. The event will feature two dunk tanks where participants will have a 15-minute time slot of sitting in the tank. People will pay to throw balls to dunk the participants, which will include deans, student government, athletes and coaches, and community celebrities. A bake sale, drinks and a small silent auction will also be a part of this day. The United Way Day of Caring will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, Friday, Sept. 22, 2006. The IUPUI /United Way Day of Caring is a community event where IUPUI staff, faculty and students volunteer to help out at different community organizations. Involvement includes, but is not limited to, working with children, working with the elderly, park clean ups, neighborhood clean-ups and work with organizations like Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, the YMCA and many more. Staff must receive permission from their supervisor to be a part of this community volunteer day.
