IUPUI to Join Indianapolis “My Daily Constitution” Observance

INDIANAPOLIS – From Sept. 17 to Sept. 24, 2006, lawyers, academics, activists, artists and others will hold a series of public programs about the U.S. Constitution as part of My Daily Constitution (MDC) Indianapolis.

MDC Indianapolis will kick off with a public reading of the U.S. Constitution on Constitution Day, Sunday, Sept. 17, at the Atrium of the Indiana Statehouse.

For the rest of the week you are invited to come out for the Constitution Cafés, witness a high school debate, take part in a poetry slam, join a bus tour, view an exhibit of the Constitution, watch a film series and more.

Free copies of the U.S. Constitution will be available at all discussion locations and several bookshops and coffee houses around the city.

MDC Indianapolis events will take place in locations around the city including: The Indiana Statehouse, IUPUI Democracy Plaza, The Old Centrum, The Athenaeum Foundation, The Spades Park Library, Shapiro’s Deli, The Indiana Historical Society, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Outword Bound Books, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Christian Park Family Center, Glendale Library, Glendale Mall, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, and Oldfields-Lilly House & Gardens.
