Convocation Launches Academic Year

INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI will start the academic year with its annual Fall Convocation celebration on Friday, August 25, 2006 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in the gymnasium at the IUPUI Natatorium. The convocation will feature IUPUI Chancellor and Executive Vice President Charles R. Bantz, IUPUI Coaches Ron Hunter and Shann Hart, the IUPUI Scholars, and William Plater International Scholarship recipients. A box lunch picnic will follow the convocation.

Assistant Vice Chancellor Frank E. Ross said, “The fall convocation is a great community-building event for IUPUI which brings together students, faculty and staff. It is an official welcome to our new students and kick-off for the school year."

The 2006 Fall Convocation is sponsored by the IU School of Liberal Arts, Division of Student Life and Diversity, Office of Student Scholarships, the Purdue School of Science, and University College. The food for the picnic will be donated by Meijer at Southport Road in Indianapolis.
