Transitions in the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculties

INDIANAPOLIS – Associate Vice Chancellor and Associate Dean of the Faculties Nancy Chism will, beginning August 1, devote herself full time to the role of Professor of Education. She will work in the area of international educational development and the professional preparation of educational developers.

Chism has directed the Office for Professional Development (OPD) since 1999, seeing it through its growth into a unit composed of nine offices, including the Centers for Learning, advocacy and research units, and Academic Policies, Procedures and Documentation.

Sharon Hamilton, Associate Dean of the Faculties and Chancellor’s Professor of English, has been appointed interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs to succeed Nancy Chism. Hamilton currently directs the Center for Integrating Learning (COIL), which provides oversight for the IUPUI Principles of Undergraduate Learning through key initiatives such as the electronic student portfolio, Communities of Practice, the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and Themed Learning Communities. Hamilton has been a campus and national leader in teaching and learning, general education, electronic portfolios, and other vital areas of faculty work for many years.

Anastasia Morrone, Executive Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and Associate Professor in the School of Education, is assuming new responsibilities as Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning Information Technologies (TLIT) within UITS. Her responsibilities will include university-wide leadership for faculty adoption of Oncourse CL and the electronic portfolio, setting priorities for the continued development of those systems, and IT support to faculty coordinated through the campus centers for teaching and learning.

Megan Palmer, currently Interim Director of Academic Policies and Procedures Documentation (APPD) and Director of Administrative and Organizational Development (AOD), will succeed Stacy Morrone as Interim Executive Director of the Center for Teaching Learning (CTL). Palmer has previously worked in the CTL in the Instructional Design Unit and as Coordinator of the Gateway Scholars Program. Palmer holds an adjunct appointment in the department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies in the School of Education.
