Player of the Year, Mallory Stemle

INDIANAPOLIS – The Mid-Continent Conference has announced IUPUI women’s tennis player Mallory Stemle (Jasper, Ind./Jasper) has been picked conference Player of the Year in a vote of the league coaches.

Stemle is the first IUPUI women’s tennis player in school history to win conference Player of the Year honors. With the recognition, she also became just the third player in league history to be selected First Team All-Conference four times in their careers.

Stemle finished the season with 17 wins at her No. 1 singles position, including a 6-2 mark in league play. She also tallied 22 doubles wins, including a conference-best 16 at No. 1 doubles with partner Allison Thompson.

Stemle finished her career as IUPUI’s all-time doubles wins leader with 86, while also holding the school record for doubles winning percentage (.796, 86-22). She was a perfect 20-0 in conference doubles play and 6-0 in Mid-Con Tournament action throughout her four years.

The 6-foot-1 senior also holds six other school records, including those for singles and doubles matches played in a career. She is also among IUPUI’s all-time leaders in career singles wins and singles winning percentage. In addition, she holds marks that are among the school’s best for singles and doubles wins in a season and doubles winning percentage for a season.

Joining Stemle on the First Team were Newcomer of the Year Yosefin Rustander of Chicago State, Rachel Janssen and Kate Evangelist of Valparaiso and Emily Arkell and Diana Salas of Oral Roberts.
