Showcase on Civic Engagement Set for April 28

INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI Center for Service and Learning is pleased to announce the second annual Showcase on Civic Engagement will be held Friday, April 28th from 8:30-11:30 am in the Great Hall and Auditorium of the Herron School of Art and Design, 735 W. New York Street.

Highlights of this year’s showcase will be a keynote address by Elizabeth Hollander, executive director of Campus Compact, and the presentation of the William M. Plater Civic Engagement Medallion to the first class of recipients. In credence with IUPUI’s mission, the William M. Plater Civic Engagement Medallion has been established to distinguish students who have demonstrated exemplary commitment to their communities during their undergraduate years, while honoring IUPUI’s Executive Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculties William Plater, a strong advocate of civic engagement during his career.

The showcase will start with a continental breakfast at 8:30 am on Friday, April 28, followed by a formal program at 9:00 am. At the conclusion of that ceremony, the audience will have the opportunity to learn about departmental and interdepartmental approaches to civic engagement at IUPUI. There will also be a reception for the Medallion recipients and their families. Attendance is open to the public and free of charge. Please RSVP to Patti Hair at 278-2662 or at phair@iupui.edu no later than April 21st if you plan to attend.
