Outstanding Leader Awards Presented to Five IUPUI Women

INDIANAPOLIS – “Women: Builders of Communities and Dreams” was the theme for the Annual Women’s History Month Leadership Awards Reception on March 29. In celebration of Women’s History Month, five IUPUI Women were given Outstanding Women Leader Awards at the reception. The event, co-sponsored by the Office for Women and Campus & Community Life, also recognized another 53 women who were award nominees.

Executive Associate Dean Khaula Murtadha of the School of Education and Professor Jennifer Thorington Springer of the School of Liberal Arts received Outstanding Woman Full-time Faculty Awards.

Assistant Vice Chancellor Ellen Poffenberger of Human Resources Administration and Kimberly Stewart-Brinston of Enrollment Services were recipients of Outstanding Woman Full-time Staff Awards. Nancy Fitzgerald-Bellovary of Enrollment Services was the recipieint of the Outstanding Woman Part-Time Award.

Chancellor Charles R. Bantz and Executive Vice Chancellor William Plater delivered greetings and congratulatory remarks at the reception. Each award recipient also spoke reflecting upon the roles of women leaders and styles of women’s leadership.

Nominees recognized in the full-time staff category were Amy Blackford, Christine Buckley, Connie Ely Veselak, Debbie Dailey, Debra Hall, Delana Gifford, Diana Yates, Elizabeth Rubens, Gail Plater, Gwendolyn Johnson, Jesten Delph, Laura Parker, Lena Woods, Lisa Ruch, Lisa White, Marla Zimmerman, Malti Maraj, Marie Chastain, Michelle Boshears, Michelle Webster, Mona Loft, Nancy Roof, Natasha Flowers, Patricia Fox, Sarah Glener-Bales, Tammy Martin, Vicki Kruse, and Wanda Colwell.

Full-time faculty nominated included Barbara Christe, Beth Jeglum, Bethany Neal-Beliveau, Georgia Miller, Judith Chin, Judith Spector, Karen Yoder, Kathryn Glidden, Katherine Wills, Kathy Johnson, Krista Longtin, Lillian Stokes, Maria Pabon Lopez, Mary Harter Mitchell, Maureen Minielli, Obioma Nnaemeka, Peg Brand, Sharon Stoten, Silvia Bigatti, Stephanie Sen, Teresa Molinder-Hogue, Ulla Conner, Yun Liang.

Part-time certificates went to Kathleen Grove and Mary Ann Frank.

Members of this year’s selection committee were Kristi Palmer, Nancy Robertson, Lillian Stokes, Neelam Chand, Kim Stewart-Brinston, Gina Sanchez Gibau, Alesia Hill and Kathleen Grove.
