New Volunteer Program Begins at IUPUI: Jaguars in the Streets

INDIANAPOLIS – Jaguars in the Streets is an IUPUI program designed to provide IUPUI staff and students with volunteer opportunities in the community, as well as show the community what IUPUI can do as a partner.

The program will focus on various organizations throughout the year to showcase all of the great things going on in Indianapolis. This program is coordinated by the Office of External Affairs and the Center for Service and Learning.

Volunteers will receive a free Jaguars in the Streets T-shirt to wear while volunteering, along with specific information not only about the organization that they are helping, but other organizations in town that may have similar missions.

Jaguars in the Streets is open to IUPUI staff and students and friends and family of IUPUI staff and students. More information on the program and online volunteer forms can be found at www.iupui.edu/outreach/community/programs/inthestreets/.

The program will initially focus on the outdoors in Indianapolis. Volunteer opportunities include:

Keep Indianapolis Beautiful
Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB) is an organization that strives to unite people, beautify the city, and improve the environment through tree planting, neighborhood clean ups, and other service projects. In conjunction with Mayor Bart Peterson, KIB announced a plan to plant over 100,000 trees by 2010 in Indianapolis.

Stop 11 Median Planting (KIB event)
