INDIANAPOLIS – University Place Conference Center & Hotel has a new look, new spaces and updated technology that will lure more conferences and more travelers to Indianapolis.

The 18-year-old hotel has undergone a $13 million renovation, and is reopening today with a new lease on life for travelers and for the city of Indianapolis.

“This renovation demonstrates not only our commitment to the needs of our customers, but to the continued growth our city is experiencing in conference and convention business,” said John Short, vice chancellor, IUPUI. “We have committed to the newest technology throughout the entire facility and our rooms reflect the latest in business and leisure travel trends – all while providing a competitive price for consumers.”

Because of its unique location in the heart of the IUPUI campus, the hotel is ideal for industries such as sports and life sciences. University Place was built during Indianapolis’ rise as Amateur Sports Capital of the World, and it is not a coincidence that the renovation’s opening is set just before March Madness arrives downtown. University Place is preparing to host NCAA Final Four events.

The project included a complete renovation of the hotel’s 278 guest rooms; remodeling of the facility’s three restaurants, including a smoke-free sports bar; and the redesign of some of the special event space used for banquets. The core design, including high speed wired and wireless Internet access throughout the facility, is an attraction for corporate travelers and conference attendees.

University Place Conference Center & Hotel is located at 850 W. Michigan St. For more information call 317.231.5226 or visit www.universityplace.iupui.edu.
