Herron Hosts Top Indiana Student Artists

INDIANAPOLIS - The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards program is the largest and longest-running recognition program of its kind in the country for students in grades seven through 12. As part of the event, the Herron School of Art and Design is sponsoring the Scholastic Art Awards of Central Indiana, a juried art competition for Indiana students. The winning works, which include more than 350 pieces, will be on exhibition in the Herron School of Art and Design's Marsh Special Projects Gallery beginning February 4.

An opening reception for the Scholastic Art Awards of Central Indiana will take place February 4 at 2:30 pm, followed by a recognition ceremony with award announcements at 3:00 pm. The works will be on display through February 18. Marsh Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday 10am to 3pm. Public parking is available in the IUPUI garage west of Herron. The exhibition is free to the public.

Top winners from the state contest will advance to a national competition and winners' work will be on exhibit in New York City.
