Expert to Speak at IUPUI on Impact of Gender Paradigms

INDIANAPOLIS - Do you wonder if your gender has an impact on your success at work or in the classroom? Are you concerned about how your leadership style may be perceived by other women or men? Are you curious about how your communication style affects your relationships with others at work? Do you want to avoid gender and cultural stereotypes in your teaching?

You can explore these questions here at IUPUI on February 28, 2006, in a one day workshop with Bonita Banducci, a Silicon Valley consultant and founding faculty member of the University of Santa Clara 's Global Women's Leadership Center.

Her presentation provides insights about ways that gender frameworks impact communication, perceptions, decision making, power sharing and organizational behavior. She explores how to build partnerships and collaborations across differences and how to use this new thinking and behavior to enhance cultural competency.

In addition to her consulting work, Ms. Banducci teaches Unmasking the Gender Effect: Men and Women Building Partnerships for Engineering Excellence for the University of Santa Clara's Graduate Department of Engineering and has studied and worked with Dr. Fernando Flores, a renowned linguist. A booklet she co-authored for the Royal Bank of Canada titled, “Closing the Gender Gap” can be viewed or downloaded for free at http://www.rbc.com/uniquecareers/diversity/gender.pdf

Her visit is sponsored by the IUPUI Office for Women and Human Resources Administration. The workshop is free and open to all. An opening general session will be offered in the morning. In the afternoon participants may select one of two small group sessions for a more personal consultation and application of these concepts.
