INDIANAPOLIS - A former director of marketing and public affairs for an Indiana agency and legislative assistant and press secretary for a member of Congress has been named director of the Office of Community Relations at IUPUI, announced Amy Warner, acting vice chancellor for external affairs.

Jennifer Boehm has begun her duties, which include overseeing dynamic community-campus activities that build awareness among Central Indiana residents about resources at IUPUI. Initially, Boehm said she will be looking at community relations activities from a strategic perspective as she reviews community relations activities in which the campus is engaged.

"Jennifer brings a wealth of experiences in community communications and outreach that are well-suited to advancing the goals of the campus," Warner said.

Previously, Boehm served for nearly six years as director of marketing and public affairs for the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, a quasi state government agency. In that role, she developed and implemented all communications, marketing and legislative activities for the agency.

Prior to that, she was as an associate producer with Middlemarch Films, a documentary film production company, working on a three-hour PBS series on the impact of photography on 20 th century America.

From 1989 to November 1999 Boehm was a legislative assistant and press secretary for Indiana Congresswoman Jill Long. She covered health care, welfare, education and senior issues; followed legislation, drafted bills and amendments, and wrote testimony.

Boehm received a bachelor's from Michigan State University, a master's in New Media studies from the New School of Social Research in New York City and a certificate in public management from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IUPUI in May 2003.
