Round Two for Indianapolis Quality of Life SurveyINDIANAPOLIS - The Department of Tourism, Conventions and Event Management at IUPUI will conduct a second survey to measure how Indianapolis residents view the quality of their lives, beginning September 12. The survey results will indicate whether there has been any change in that view since the department conducted its first quality of life survey a year ago. The initial survey was conducted to provide a baseline by which to measure one of the goals set for the city's cultural tourism initiative when it was launched five years ago: improve the quality of life for city residents. Some changes in quality of life indicators are likely, said Sotiris H. Avgoustis, associate professor and chair of the department, due to a cultural initiative advertising blitz and opening or re-opening of several major cultural assets in the city, including the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Eitlejorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, and the Herron School of Art and Design at IUPUI. Survey takers will question at least 500 city residents at the City Market. The questions range from how often they take part in physical activity to whether they feel a sense of community with others in their neighborhood to whether they are aware of the city's cultural district program. Teams of survey takers will be at the City Market between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. After the survey concludes on September 30, the results will be analyzed and then shared in a town hall meeting later this year. |
