College Rankings Spotlight IUPUI Student Success and Public Affairs Programs

INDIANAPOLIS - U.S. News and World Report is out with its latest college and graduate schools rankings; IUPUI is ranked in several categories.

For the fourth year, U.S. News published a list of schools with outstanding examples of academic programs that are believed to lead to student success. With the help of education experts, including staff members of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, the magazine identified eight such types of programs. It then invited college presidents, chief academic officers, deans of students, and deans of admissions to nominate up to 10 institutions with stellar examples of each program type. Colleges and universities that were mentioned most often were listed.

IUPUI was ranked among schools that have developed outstanding first year experiences for students and for exceptional service learning programs.

"I think it's meaningful recognition in that educational leaders are asked to identify places with particularly strong efforts in these areas," said Scott Evenbeck, dean of University College.

In U.S. News and World Report's best graduate school rankings, IUPUI ranked fourth nationally in "Public Affairs Specialties in Nonprofit Management."

IUPUI also ranked 38th on the top 100 list of schools for having the most transfer students in the fall of 2003, with 2032 student transfers.
