How to Fight Stage Fright with Music

INDIANAPOLIS - Get stage fright when you step up to the microphone to sing?

Learn to use your own music, along with cutting-edge stress management techniques, to discover and transform underlying causes of stage fright, performance-related injuries, and polarized perfectionism.

Music-medicine specialist Louise Montello, founder of Musicians' Wellness, Inc., will present a clinically-proven, unique approach to overcoming musical performance stress on Friday, June 10 at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

The workshop will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., Friday, June 10 at the IUPUI  Informatics Complex, Room 071, 535 W. Michigan St.

Montello creates a safe, supportive, and playful atmosphere for healing, using innovative techniques from the creative arts therapies, behavioral medicine and yoga science.

Benefits of the training include reduction of stress and anxiety in performance and daily life, along with expanded creativity. Participants learn how to care for their bodies as true musical "instruments" and learn cutting-edge music therapy wellness techniques.

This workshop is an introduction to Level I of a three-level certificate training program in performance wellness.

Tuition is $25.

To reserve a space, interested individuals should register at least five days in advance. For registration or additional information, contact Montello at montello@musicianswellness.org; www.musicianswellness.org; or (212) 529-9737.
