Student Life Director Receives National Honor for First-Year Program

Frank E. Ross, Ph.D.

Frank E. Ross, Ph.D.

INDIANAPOLIS - Frank E. Ross, Ph.D., was recently recognized at the annual meeting of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators with the "Promising Practices Award" for successful collaboration between student affairs and academic affairs.

This award is given for program development which models good integration of student affairs with academic affairs in colleges and universities.  Ross received recognition for the work he does in collaboration with University College in first-year programs, specifically with regard to new student orientation and learning communities.

During the awards ceremony in March Ross's program, "First Year in a FLASH" was highlighted.  This specific program was designed to help new students learn about the many opportunities IUPUI provides for co-curricular involvement, both on campus as well as in the community.

Ross is the associate director of Campus & Community Life, part of the Division of Student Life and Diversity at IUPUI. Earlier this year, he was the recipient of the NASPA regional Outstanding Mid-Level Student Affairs Professional Award.
