Department Celebrates Public Health Week with Seminars, New Graduate Minors

INDIANAPOLIS - In recognition of National Public Health Week, April 4-10, the IU Department of Public Health is sponsoring a series of health seminars and rolling out its new graduate minors in Epidemiology and Public Health.

The seminars focus on empowering Hoosiers to live stronger, longer by promoting the three P's: Prevention, Protection and Planning.

  • Prevent problems from happening
  • Protect your health through early detection
  • Plan to stay healthy

To further celebrate National Public Health Week, the Department of Public Health is promoting its new graduate minors in Epidemiology and Public Health. These rigorous 12-credit minors were developed in response to the growing number of requests from interested doctoral students in various health related programs and in response to the increased national and global need for professional education in epidemiology and public health.

These minors offer population-based research perspectives, present evidence-based health promotion and disease prevention techniques and interventions, enhance analytic and data-based management skills, and provide a systems approach to addressing the physical, mental and environmental health concerns of populations at risk for disease and injury.
