Krahulik to Receive Distinguished Alumni Service AwardINDIANAPOLIS - Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis alumni will present former Indiana Supreme Court Justice Jon D. Krahulik with the Distinguished Alumni Service Award on April 9, 2005 during the annual Law Reunion Weekend. Krahulik served as an Associate Justice of the Indiana Supreme Court from 1990 to 1993, authoring more than 140 majority opinions. "Jon Krahulik's record of service to the law school, the legal profession and the community is exceptional," said Tony Tarr, dean of the law school. "Whether it was teaching constitutional law, serving as a trial lawyer, working to reform the organization of state government, or recommending changes to improve the criminal justice system in Indiana, Jon Krahulik brought his outstanding talents to bear on the task at hand." Krahulik received an A.B. in History from Indiana University in 1965 and a J.D. cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis , 1969. He served as an adjunct professor of law at Indiana University School of Law- Indianapolis, Fall, 1992, and Spring, 2000, teaching Indiana Constitutional Law. He has been admitted to practice in all state courts in Indiana and the United States District Courts of Indiana since 1969. His professional accomplishments include: 1969-1971: Baker & Daniels in Indianapolis serving as an associate in various practice areas. 1971-1990: Bingham Summers Welsh & Spilman serving as an associate and partner with practice limited to litigation and appellate practice. Managing partner of the firm 1989-1990. As a trial lawyer has tried between 75-1 00 jury trials in areas of professional negligence, general negligence, product liability and contract; 1993-1994: President and Chief Operating Officer of Chemed Corporation in Cincinnati, Ohio; 1994-2003: Partner in Yosha, Krahulik and Levy, engaging in representing plaintiffs in personal injury lawsuits involving professional liability, general negligence and product liability. 2003 -present: Semi-retired with law practice limited to mediation, arbitration, and limited representation of select clients. Krahulik served as counsel to Governor Evan Bayh's transition team in 1988 and Governor Bayh's Government Review Task Force in 1989-1990. He was a member of the Indiana Lawyers Commission, a group which studied and recommended changes in the Indiana criminal justice system, from approximately 1974 to 1979. He is currently a member of the Arthur Jordan YMCA Board of Managers, a Commissioner on the Indiana Lobbying Registration Commission, and a member of the Indiana University School of Law Board of Visitors since 1993. |
