Collegiate Job Fair Offers Employers Diverse, Trained Workforce PoolINDIANAPOLIS - Employers seeking college-educated workers and wanting to invest their recruitment dollars wisely are invited to participate in an upcoming job fair coordinated by the IUPUI Career Center. The 2005 Indiana Collegiate Job Fair (ICJF), sponsored by Indiana and Purdue universities, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, March 31 at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis. The annual ICJ, now in its fifteenth year, traditionally draws numerous job candidates who have strong, diverse educational backgrounds and are seeking full-time employment in everything from entry- to professional-level positions. Job candidates, who pay a $10 job fair admission fee, represent a variety of career fields including technology, business, finance, non-profit and many more. In addition to meeting face-to-face with employer representatives, candidates submit scannable resumes for an interactive, searchable database given to employers, free of charge, for future reference. "The ICJF is an effective and economical avenue for employers to increase their applicant flow, fill positions, and remind candidates that they are an employer of choice," said Becky Garrett, job fair coordinator. According to a survey of employers who have participated in previous college fairs, the ICJF offers "a great candidate pool and exposure for employers." The event has also been called "one of the best job fairs in the area." Deadline for early bird registration for employers is Feb. 25. Regular registration runs through March 11. Cost is $525 for early bird registration or $650 after the deadline. Registration includes a 10-by-5 booth area with table and chairs, an on-site interviewing area, and lunch and a snack for two recruiters. Employers also can place paid advertising in a job fair guide to be distributed to candidates. Special sponsorship packages are also available. Companies interested in participating in the job fair can call the Career Center at (317) 274-3215, or visit the Career Center's website at www.jobfairs.iupui.edu for additional information and on-line registration forms. |
