Bantz Appoints Sherree Wilson as Special AssistantINDIANAPOLIS - IUPUI Chancellor Charles R. Bantz today (Dec.10) announced the appointment of Dr. Sherree Wilson as Special Assistant to the Chancellor. Dr. Wilson will take major responsibility for special projects including a review of IUPUI's efforts in diversifying faculty and administration. In addition, as a member of the Chancellor's cabinet, Dr. Wilson will work along with senior campus leaders to develop plans and objectives for the administration; she will also represent the Chancellor's office on campus and university committees and serve as a liaison between the campus and external community organizations, including a variety of business, professional, and governmental groups. Dr. Wilson will also assist the Chancellor with administrative searches, personnel reviews, and project coordination. "Sherree Wilson brings IUPUI experience, success in working with faculty and students, and needed expertise. I am very happy she is joining the team," said Bantz. Wilson will begin her new duties in January. Wilson is currently placement director and a clinical assistant professor at the Indiana University School of Education in Bloomington . She also serves the IU Bloomington Office of Strategic Hiring and Support. While her duties will be new, Wilson is coming back to a campus where she worked for more than a decade, earning numerous awards and recognition. Earlier this year, Wilson was presented with a Joseph T. Taylor Award for Excellence in Diversity in recognition of her work that Bantz said "not only transforms students' experience, but also enhances faculty life in a critical way." Wilson received a Doctor of Philosophy in August 2003 from IU Bloomington, a Master of Science from IU Bloomington in 1988 and a Bachelor of Science from Ball State University in 1980. From 2001 to 2004, Wilson served as the director of multicultural professional development at IUPUI where she was also acting director for the Office for Professional Development during the summer of 2003. Prior to that, she was director of minority faculty development, associate director of the career center, and assistant director of the career and employment services at IUPUI. |
