Student Housing Takes County Design Awards

INDIANAPOLIS - The construction of the Campus Apartments on the River Walk recently ranked as one of the most significant enhancements in Marion County.

In the 27 th annual Awards for Excellence in Design, Development, Construction, Engineering, and Beautification of Indianapolis competition, Campus Apartments on the River Walk won an honor award (first place) in the Downtown Development category, and a merit award (second place) in the Construction category.

As one of eight category winners in the competition, the student housing project was one of seven projects considered for the event's coveted "A Monumental Affair Award." The award recognizes the most significant visual and physical enhancement in Marion County. The competition is a program of Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc..

The honor and merit awards recognized the accomplishments of IUPUI as owner; RATIO Architect, Inc. as the project architect; and F.A.Wilhelm Construction Company, Inc. as general contractor.

"Everyone associated with the design and development of the IUPUI student housing project is well aware of the many positive benefits the project has brought to the IUPUI campus," said William Gerald Stuff, senior associate university architect and director of IUPUI Project Development. "It is always rewarding though to receive the recognition and affirmation of our neighbors that we have made a positive contribution to our community."

The Children's Museum of Indianapolis ' Dinosphere Expansion project was chosen to receive the 2004 "A Monumental Affair" award. The museum project won first place in two categories: Architecture and Construction. A jury of community and professional leaders selected the winner.
