FACET Awards: Executive Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculties Uday Sukhatme celebrates at Indiana University's annual FACET Retreat, where incoming IUPUI Associate Vice Chancellor Mary Fisher (left) was awarded the P. A. Mack Award for Distinguished Service to Excellence in Teaching and outgoing IUPUI Associate Vice Chancellor Sharon Hamilton (right) was awarded the Honorary P.A. Mack Award for a lifetime of Distinguished Service to Excellence in Teaching. P. A. Mack was a former Trustee of Indiana University whose endowment of this award symbolizes his ongoing passionate commitment to excellence in teaching and learning at Indiana University.

IUPUI Music Program Moves to School of Engineering & Technology

In a well-orchestrated move that officials say hits all the right notes, the Indiana University Music program at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis is now part of the engineering and technology school on the campus.
Under a re-organization agreement signed by IUPUI Chancellor Charles R. Bantz and others on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, the music program became the Department of Music and Arts Technology in the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI.

IUPUI to Host First of Six Homeland Security Emergency Management Seminars
What does it take to get city services up and running following a devastating tornado? How do you protect lives and property during high-profile events such as a Super Bowl or major motorsports race? How do you protect important businesses from sabotage? Such questions and concerns are the focus of an upcoming homeland security emergency management seminar.
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) will host the first of six major national conferences on homeland security and emergency management from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2008, at the University Place Conference Center, located at 850 W. Michigan St. on the IUPUI campus.

IUPUI Professor Named Director of New Translational Sciences Institute, NIH Awards CTSI $25 Million
An IUPUI professor will head a newly created medical research institute that has received $25 million in federal funding.
Anantha Shekhar, M.D., Ph.D., professor of psychiatry at IU School of Medicine on the IUPUI campus, and IU assistant vice president for life sciences, is the director of the newly created Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI).
