Murtadha Awarded Madame C. J. Walker Outstanding Woman of the Year Award

The Center for Leadership Development (CLD) presented Khaula Murtadha, professor, Educational Leadership, IU School of Education at IUPUI, with its 2008 Madame C. J. Walker (Outstanding Woman of the Year) Award.

The award will be presented Monday, March 17, at the CLD's 28th annual Minority Business and Professional Achievers Recognition Awards Dinner at the Indiana Convention Center. Murtadha was among 17 individuals honored at the event.

Bullies Extend Reach Through Cyber-Age Tools

Victims of bullies are no longer free from attacks even at home because those age-old nemeses of students everywhere have extended their reach through cyber-age tools like e-mail and text messages, James Brown, a PhD student at the Indiana University School of Social Work, points out.

Data shows the new-age methods of bullying can be more distressing than the old-fashioned face-to-face taunts because there is such an anonymous component to it, Brown said.

Law Clinic Attorney Announces Post-Conviction Trial, Seeks Public's Help

The Law Clinic at Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis today (March 14, 2008) announced an upcoming post-conviction proceeding on behalf of a Lake County man asserting he was wrongfully convicted of rape in 1993. Law Clinic attorneys representing the man are seeking the public's help in exonerating their client.

The history of women chemists is a story of great discoverers. Meet the women who dared in a new exhibit at IUPUI.

"Her Lab in Your Life: Women in Chemistry" explores the accomplishments of women chemists throughout history, including many who are breaking new scientific ground today. Many of these women had to overcome great discrimination to pursue their science, creating paths for future chemists to follow.

Top IUPUI Faculty to Present at Cutting Edge Lecture Series

The IUPUI Office of Academic Affairs is pleased to announce its Cutting Edge Lecture Series for spring of 2008. This series will give the opportunity for the community to engage in dialogues with top university professors about rapidly changing fields of inquiry.
