Senator Richard G. LugarLugar Delivers First Renewable Energy Forum Speech: "The development and deployment of new technologies is likely to be the difference between success and failure of our efforts at energy transformation," Indiana Senator Richard G. Lugar told a packed auditorium during the first biennial Indiana Renewable Energy Forum held at IUPUI on Jan. 4, 2008.

Mamma Leone's, Wild Greens to Open Jan. 14 at Campus Center Food Court

Chartwells has announced opening dates for additional food operations in the new IUPUI Campus Center.

Mamma Leone's and Wild Greens will both open Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, in the Campus Center first floor Food Court.

On Wednesday, Jan. 16, Bamboo Asian Cuisine will open in the Food Court, followed by Chick-fil-A and Coyote Jack's Grill on Friday, Jan. 18.

IU School of Law-Indy Grad to Head Indiana Black Expo

IU School of Law-Indianapolis graduate Tanya Bell is the new chief executive of Indiana Black Expo (IBE). The Indianapolis attorney, a 2000 graduate of the law school located on the IUPUI campus, has served on the IBE's board of directors for six years.

Faculty Club Presents Three Events In January

Kelley Indianapolis Associate Dean Philip L. Cochran, Thomas Binford Chair in Corporate Citizenship and Professor of Management, will be the "host" at the IUPUI Faculty Club's "Conversations at Tea Time" from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on January 16 at the Faculty Club Room, IP 200, located on the second floor of the University Place Conference Center.

Cochran will discuss new directions for Kelley Indianapolis: a new building, programmatic growth, research excellence and new centers.

The Faculty Club is also presenting "Reducing the Epidemic of Family Violence" by Dr. Rose S. Fife at its January "Scholarship at Lunch Time (SALT)" event.

In a third event, the Faculty Club presents "Reading at the Table," with Martin A. Colemen from 11:30 to 1 p.m. on January 24. Coleman, assistant professor of Philosophy in the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI, will read from the eight books of "The Letters of George Santayana," edited by The Santayana Edition, for whom Martin is an Associate Editor.

Underserved Children Wanted for Free Dental Care

According to the American Dental Association, children from families with annual incomes of $10,000 to $20,000 have 10 times more unmet dental needs than children whose families earn more than $50,000 per year. The Indiana Dental Association, through Give Kids a Smile day on Friday, February 1, wants to help these children receive the dental care they deserve.

IUPUI to Host "Marching Toward Justice" Exhibit

The national touring exhibit recounting the history of the struggle for social justice and equality in America will stop in Indianapolis next week for a six-week exhibit at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).

IUPUI will present "Marching Toward Justice: The History of the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution," Jan. 18, 2008, through Feb. 29, 2008, in the Cultural Arts Gallery, Room 240 of the IUPUI Campus Center, 420 University Blvd.

IUPUI Presents Shakespeare Center’s "Henry V," "Merchant of Venice"

Indianapolis audiences can experience the world of Shakespearean theater next month when the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI presents the American Shakespeare Center's "Piercing Eloquence Tour."

The American Shakespeare Center (ASC), one of the country's most acclaimed acting troupes, will present a performance of "Henry V" at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, and a second performance at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2008. The ASC will also present "The Merchant of Venice" at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 2. All three performances will take place at Christian Theological Seminary (CTS), 1000 W. 42nd Street.
