IU School of Liberal Arts Political Science Professor William Blomquist received one of the Fulbright program's Distinguished Chairs, the Turin Chair in Environmental Policy. His time at Turin (February through May) coincides with his sabbatical leave during Spring Semester. He will teach a course on environmental policy while continuing his current research on water management in the European Union. Along the same lines, during 2007 he has held a post as Visiting Scholar in an EU exchange program, the International Master's of Science in Rural Development, for which he has been guest lecturing at Humboldt University in Berlin (in May and August) and at Ghent University in Belgium this month December and participated in a graduate seminar at the Slovak Agricultural University in August.

Nominations Open for 2008 Joseph T. Taylor Awards for Diversity
IUPUI faculty, staff and students are invited to submit nominations/applications for the 2008 Dr. Joseph T. Taylor Awards for Excellence in Diversity.
In honor of Dr. Joseph T. Taylor, the first dean of the School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI, the award recognizes exemplary work by an individual, group or project that has promoted diversity on campus and/or in the community.
IUPUI Chancellor Charles R. Bantz will confer the awards during the 2008 Joseph T. Taylor Symposium on Feb. 29, 2008.

Majority OF U.S. Households Give an Average of $2,045
About six in 10 U.S. households contribute to charity routinely, according new findings from the Center on Philanthropy Panel Study (COPPS) released today by the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University.
The ongoing survey asked the same 8,000 families about their total charitable gifts made in 2000, 2002 and 2004. While the total percentage of households that gave was similar in all three years (67 to 69 percent), it was not always the same households. The study found that a fairly large proportion of all U.S. households—nearly one third—shift between donating and not donating.
