Student Exchange Signing 

Student Exchange Signing: On Oct. 25, 2007, administrators of IUPUI and Newcastle University, United Kingdom, signed an agreement establishing a student exchange program between the two universities.

Participants in the signing ceremony included (left to right) IUPUI Chancellor Charles R. Bantz; Susan Sutton, IUPUI associate dean for international affairs; Jason Kelly, IUPUI assistant professor of history and IUPUI director of the exchange program; Helen Berry, Newcastle University professor of history; and Robert White, dean of the School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI.

Under the agreement, IUPUI students can spend an entire semester studying at Newcastle University in Newcastle, England. The first two IUPUI students to participate in the exchange program are scheduled to study aboard in spring 2008.

The first British students are expected to come to IUPUI in fall 2008.

Barbara Christe 
Christe joins IU course management development team as faculty fellow

University Information Technology Services (UITS) at Indiana University welcomes Barbara Christe as a new faculty fellow in the development of its collaboration and learning environment, Oncourse CL. Christe, a faculty member at IUPUI since 1998, is associate professor and program director of Biomedical Engineering Technology at the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology.

Colleges with NASCAR, IndyCar Locales Team Up for 2008 Class on Business, Technology of Racing

When Professors Pete Hylton and Travis Teague met earlier this year, they knew that pairing the motorsports programs of their respective universities would be, to borrow from race track lingo, a "checkered flag" for students on both campuses.

Teague is coordinator of the motorsports management program at Winston-Salem State University which is located in the heart of NASCAR country.

Psychologist to Speak on the Ethical Challenges of a Robotic Future

Distinguished psychologist Peter H. Kahn Jr. will discuss the ethical implications of forming social and moral relationships with robots during free lectures next month at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and Indiana University Bloomington.

Kenyan Education Professors Visiting School of Education at IUPUI

Two professors from the Moi University School of Education are in Indiana to learn how to improve teacher training in Kenya.

The IU School of Education at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) is working on a continuing relationship with the school of education at Moi University, located in Eldoret, Kenya, a city in the western portion of the country, about 192 miles northwest of Nairobi. The School of Education at IUPUI is enhancing a longstanding IU partnership with the African nation. The IU School of Medicine, located at IUPUI, joined forces for health care in 1989, primarily focusing on fighting the AIDS pandemic.

Twenty-one Indiana University undergraduates have been honored with selection as Cox Scholars for the 2007-08 academic year. The 2007 Class of Cox Scholars includes seven Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis students.
